Looking for a unique vacation spot this year? Add Istria, Croatia—often called ‘Green Croatia’—to your list. While Croatia has become a popular destination, Istria still feels like a hidden gem compared to the coastal towns in the south. Picture rolling vineyards, olive groves, and charming hilltop villages. If you love wine and gourmet food, this region will feel like paradise.
Getting There
🛬Arrive at Zagreb Airport (ZAG) -> 🚗Rent a car (you’ll love the freedom to explore)
🛣️Road Trip! Depending where you decide to stay in Istria, it’s about a 3 hour scenic drive from Zagreb to the heart of Istria.
📍Where to Go
Hum: Considered to be the smallest town in the world
Take an hour or 2 to wander around the smallest charming town. Although it’s small there are great views, cute shops full of trinkets, and lots of things to taste. Definitely worth the stop.

🏡Motovun: Your Perfect Homebase
Motovun is a medieval hilltop town that must be experienced to be believed. Everywhere you look there is a view to marvel at. Our stay was unforgettable – The views from the balcony alone were worth the trip. Want the details of where we stayed? Send us a message and we’ll share the details.

Pula: Daytrip
About an hour drive from Motovun you’ll find the seaside town of Pula. There is a lot to see and taste here. We explored some underground tunnels from the 1900’s, this is a great place to cool down on a hot day. Check out a full list of available activities.

Rovinj: Daytrip #2
Rovinj is 45 minutes from Motovun. It’s a fishing village and the fresh catch of seafood there does not disappoint. Get inspired by these available tours.
